You probably know how I design in tangents…well lately I’ve been on a nursery rhyme obsession. I was inspired by a very old Richard Scary “Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme” book.
This paper pieced pattern has nine different nursery rhymes…can you figure out what they are by the images? Here are a few:
This one is pretty easy…The Cow Jumped Over the Moon from the nursery rhyme “Hey Diddle Diddle”.
This one is perhaps not as well known, “The Owl and the Pussycat”.
These blocks were so much fun to put together. They remind me of reading the Richard Scary book to my kids when they were toddlers.
Here’s a little pillowcase I made from the “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” block for my little friend Eliot. The block is a small pocket on the pillowcase to hold a sweet book, or a snack for a car ride. This is Eliot’s favorite nursery rhyme, and the little blonde boy is supposed to look like him…faces are hard to paper piece!
This quilt pattern is available on Etsy and Craftsy.
P.S. Sorry about all the obnoxious “Made By Marney” words, but I have to watermark everything 🙁
This is one of those someday quilts, when there is that special child. Looks fantastic and a lot of fun!
Love your quilt. Have you considered making a pattern for it?
Yup…it’s on Etsy.
So swet
These are all so cute!!! What a great idea to make the nursery rhyme blocks. And that “read to me” pillow case is beautiful too!
to cute… I’ve added this to my wishlist… Maybe I’ll have a little niece/nephew – in law someday and can make it for him or her. 🙂
