Witches, and Witches, and More Witches…Oh My!

Witches, and witches, and more witches…OH MY! Witch blocks are so much fun! Welcome to the PEEK-A-WHO BLOG HOP, sponsored by Marian Pena at Seams To Be Sew. This blog hop is for sharing some fun Halloween ideas, and I have been very busy designing for Halloween since it is my favorite!

Make sure to read all the way to the end of this post so you don’t miss the GIVE-AWAYS!

Here is a brand new pillow pattern called WITCHY POO PILLOW. This pillow fits a 12″x 22″ pillow form. It is paper pieced and so much fun! I added 1″ wide rick rack around my blocks. This is such an easy way to add a little pizzaz. The rick rack is attached by sewing it directly over the seam between the blocks and the outer border. I stopped stitching an inch before the corner, turned the pillow, and pinched the rick rack into a “mitered” corner. Then I resumed sewing until an inch from the next corner. It makes a nice “frame” around the paper pieced portion.

Shelley made her Witchy Poo with orange rick rack, and Donna used a cute “BOO” ribbon as a border. She found the ribbon at Michael’s Craft store. So clever!

This is TOOTHY WITCH. The block finishes at 8″x 8″ and can be used in a pillow, potholder, or whatever! It was fun choosing fabric for her hat and hair.

This is HAPPY WITCH. She’s the kind of witch I wouldn’t mind meeting on Halloween!

And here’s a witch I designed last year…BEWITCHED. She’s still a favorite! My goal is to put all 3 of these cute witches into a table runner…I just haven’t had time yet! If you make a clever project using any of my witches and you share a photo with me, I would love to post it on my website. Send the photo to my email at: maryannhertel@gmail.com

WITCHY PILLOW is another cute throw pillow for your sofa for the fall season. Find a striped Halloween fabric for the socks, and this paper pieced design is a breeze.

This pillow was done by my friend Eva using the new Halloween fabric line from Studio Fabric, “Me and My Ghoul Friends”.   Isn’t it adorable?

Made By Marney paper pieced patterns can be found on ETSY or CRAFTSY. Thanks for stopping by, and please leave a COMMENT.

Jack O Lantern Table Topper-Paper Piecing

Here’s a new paper piecing pattern hot off my sewing machine and just in time for your Autumn tablescape.

To construct this table topper, you could use any 4 blocks that measure 8″x 8″ unfinished. The Jack O Lantern Table Topper pattern has 2 pumpkin blocks that repeat.

One pumpkin has a toothy grin…

And the other is toothless…

Or, be creative and substitute some of my other Halloween blocks for some of the Jack O Lanterns. Wouldn’t it be cute to have a table topper with all black cats?

Kit Cat block.

Fraidy Cat block.

Scaredy Cat block.

And my fave…Skat Cat block.   These 4 cats would look adorable together!

One thing I love about this octagonally shaped mat, it looks cute from every direction. Whatever you create with my patterns, I would love to see. Email me a photo and I might share it in my next post. My email:  maryannhertel@gmail.com

Northwoods Paper Piecing

Enjoying my mug of chai on the deck. What a lovely view! After spending the weekend at my cabin in northern Wisconsin, I felt excited to share this table runner pattern. I designed it with the northwoods in mind.

This is “At The Cabin” , which measures 16″ wide x 40″ long.

Included in the table runner is a grinning wolf…

a lumbering bear...

a crafty fox

and a majestic moose…and some trees, of course!

“At The Cabin” is adorning my dining table in my rustic cabin, and always makes me smile.

Easter Paper Piecing Patterns

Easter is just around the corner. Per my friend Marilyn’s advice…I have been designing lots of Easter blocks.

My Easter blocks measure 8″x 8″ unfinished and can be used in table runners, potholders, gift sacks, pillows, or even quilts. This photo was shared from Marilyn who used my patterns to teach a class on paper piecing.

The bunny and chick blocks can be purchased as a total pattern: Easter Table Runner and Potholders. Some of these blocks are also available for single block purchase. My Happy Easter Bunny and Happy Easter Ducky are another popular set of Easter blocks. Find a really cute fabric to use for the egg, and you are all set!

Isn’t this table runner adorable? Lisa England used my Happy Easter Bunny pattern and made the cutest Easter runner ever!

If you are into Easter Bonnets, this is the block for you.

And here’s a block to make your mouth water…Chocolate Bunny.

Here’s a real simple block, Easter Egg. Find a cute striped fabric to make this super easy pattern.

It’s time to “think spring”!

New Paper Piecing Dog Patterns

I spent last Saturday vending at the West Bend Quilt Show in Wisconsin. So much fun! So many sweet customers! The most popular item in my booth was my “Dogs Only” quilt.

This pattern offers 11 different breeds, but that has not been sufficient to please the many dog lovers out there who love to paper piece. Since creating this pattern, I have designed about 50 more dog blocks. Well, true to form, I had 2 lovely customers request breeds that I don’t currently have. So, thanks to my clever customers, I have added an elegant Maltese and a cute as can be King Charles Cavalier.

Maltese

King Charles Cavalier

These 2 were so much fun to design. Do any of you have a request that is not already pictured on my Etsy shop? Just let me know…I love a challenge.

No need to make the entire quilt…here are some adorable pillows made from my Pit Bull block. Thanks to Edie for sharing this photo.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pattern Blocks for St. Patrick’s Day

I have some fun paper pieced pattern blocks designed for March. Most of them are St. Patrick’s Day related. Leprechaun Block

His nose is a fabric yo yo, but could also be a button. Love that lopsided grin!

Luck Block

The secret of this block is to find 4 fabulous green fabrics.

Shamrock Block

Even though this shamrock only has 3 leaves, it is mighty lucky!

And Pot of Gold Block.

These “gold coins” are actually fabric yo yos, but could also be gold buttons.

One of my sweet customers shared this photo of a Leprechaun table runner, using my blocks. This is adorable. I love to post my customer’s creations using my pattern blocks, so please share your photos at: maryannhertel@gmail.com

Thanks for stopping by!
