FREE Paper Pieced Halloween Patterns from Made By Marney

I just can’t stop!!! Designing these Halloween blocks is so much fun! Here are 4 more paper pieced blocks which I am calling my “Black and White Series”.

These are 8″x 8″ unfinished blocks. I used them for potholders, but they also work great in my pillow pattern

or could be used in my “Boo” Table Runner pattern.

Or, put the entire collection of Halloween blocks together to make a quilt.

These FREE blocks can be found on Craftsy and Etsy. Or you may download them here: BLACK-AND-WHITE-BLOCKS-MERGED-AND-UPDATED.pdf (2168 downloads ) .

Thanks so much for being loyal customers and friends! If you have not already done so, please SUBSCRIBE.

Adorable Paper Pieced Christmas Animals

Cute as can be and just in time for Christmas, this table runner sports “3 Dogs and 1 Sassy Cat“. Animal lovers will enjoy this sweet holiday project. It’s easy to make, and the borders resemble a “scallop”,  but is pieced. So easy!

Stocking Hat Dog

Candy Cane Dog

Turtleneck Dog (hint* If you are new to paper piecing, start with this dog)

And the Sassy Cat!

Here’s a close-up of the scalloped border.

I love this border so much, I am using it in my next table runner design…tune in next time 🙂

“3 Dogs and 1 Sassy Cat” pattern is available on Etsy and Craftsy.

More Halloween Paper Pieced Patterns AND 2 FREE Patterns

As promised, I am sharing more of my favorite Halloween paper pieced blocks this week.

This is Skat Cat, the craziest cat in my Halloween collection.

This goofy cat is available as a single paper pieced block.

Bewitched is my favorite witch…and she is very easy to paper piece. This block is also available for sale as a single block.

The Haunted House is part of the Boo Collection, and is sold in a pattern with 6 other Halloween blocks, plus a table runner and potholder pattern.

And finally, here are 2 blocks that are FREE.

The Frankenstein and Dracula paper pieced block patterns are FREE and can be downloaded here:  Count-Dracula-and-Frankenstein-MERGED.pdf (2138 downloads )

Potholder directions are not included in this download, just the paper pieced block patterns.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy my fun Halloween creations. Attached is a photo of a table runner made from 3 of my Halloween block patterns. Thank you, Wanda, for sharing your cute table runner. And here’s an adorable table topper by Shelley, using all of my Halloween blocks.

Shelley used my Christmas Tree Skirt pattern to assemble this table topper so she could use 8 different Halloween blocks. Didn’t she do an awesome job?!?!

I love seeing my friends’ creations using my patterns. Please share by sending me photos at my email: maryannhertel@gmail.com

My Favorite Paper Pieced Halloween Patterns

I love designing Halloween patterns. Here are some of my favorite designs from 2017.

Batty Bat  is sold as part of the “Boo Collection“. I love the simplicity of this design. It sews together easily, and it would make an adorable potholder or pillow.

Spooky Spider is so darn cute. This pattern is also found in the “Boo Collection“. I used pin stripe white and black fabric for his teeth, but they could also be stitched on top of white fabric with black thread, or drawn with a black permanent pen.

Fraidy Cat is 1 of my favorite cat patterns, and I have designed many cats!

The “Boo Collection” is a table runner/potholder pattern which includes 6 different Halloween blocks. I’ll share more Halloween block photos next time, including that adorable “Skat Cat” in my featured image. Stay tuned…

Loon On The Lake Paper Pieced Pattern

After spending a relaxing week at my cabin in norther Wisconsin, I was going “looney”. No, not crazy looney… I now have a pair of loons at Morgan Lake. Prior to this, there was only 1 lonely loon every year. Falling asleep every night to that soulful loon’s call was magical. I was motivated to create “Loon on the Lake“.

I will add this to my collection of other northwoods paper pieced animals.

The lumbering bear

The cute as can be fox

The grinning wolf

And the somber moose.

All patterns are available on Etsy and Craftsy, some as single block patterns and some in table runners.

Nursery Rhyme Paper Pieced Quilt Pattern

You probably know how I design in tangents…well lately I’ve been on a nursery rhyme obsession. I was inspired by a very old Richard Scary “Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme” book.

This paper pieced pattern has nine different nursery rhymes…can you figure out what they are by the images? Here are a few:

This one is pretty easy…The Cow Jumped Over the Moon from the nursery rhyme “Hey Diddle Diddle”.

This one is perhaps not as well known, “The Owl and the Pussycat”.

These blocks were so much fun to put together. They remind me of reading the Richard Scary book to my kids when they were toddlers.

Here’s a little pillowcase I made from the “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” block for my little friend Eliot. The block is a small pocket on the pillowcase to hold a sweet book, or a snack for a car ride. This is Eliot’s favorite nursery rhyme, and the little blonde boy is supposed to look like him…faces are hard to paper piece!

This quilt pattern is available on Etsy and Craftsy.

P.S. Sorry about all the obnoxious “Made By Marney” words, but I have to watermark everything 🙁

Introducing my newest Paper Piecing Book

Sew Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” is my new paper piecing book. This is a great book for beginners, but has plenty to keep the more advanced quilter happy, too.Paper Piece PatternsI have always loved decorating for Christmas, so creating the 16 adorable images for this book was such fun! Included in this book are 8 cute projects to use the interchangeable paper pieced blocks. In the next couple of posts, I will be sharing all 8 of these projects. Remember, you can substitute any of the images with the 16 Christmas blocks, or any of the many paper pieced blocks found on my Etsy and Craftsy stores.

madebymarney.comTThe easiest pattern is a super simple potholder.  I like to keep my designs and patterns EASY. I love to whip together some cute holiday gifts now, and set them aside for the holidays, when I am always looking for a small gift. This Reindeer has a tinsel pompon for the nose, which may be substituted for an appliqued circle of felt or wool. I like using a stripe for the binding.

I love the Elf. Finding the fabrics for him was fun. Using a brown stripe for his hair gave it more dimension. His nose is a 1/2″ tan pompon, but could be substituted with a button or appliqued circle of fabric, felt, or wool.
